A palpable buzz of anticipation electrifies Ayodhya as the city prepares for a momentous occasion – the consecration of the grand Ram Mandir on January 22nd, 2024. To ensure a flawless execution of this historic event, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called a crucial meeting today in Lucknow, joined by Ayodhya in-charge minister Surya Pratap Shahi.

The meeting’s focus: meticulously reviewing preparations for the Pran Pratistha, the ceremonial installation of Lord Ram’s idol in the sanctum sanctorum. The city is undergoing a breathtaking transformation, adorned with vibrant decorations and resonating with the fervent chants of devotees. However, the grand spectacle is preceded by a week of elaborate rituals, commencing on January 16th.

The seven-day schedule, meticulously planned by the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, promises an immersive experience for devotees. The journey begins with the host appointed by the trust performing an atonement ceremony, followed by a purifying Dashavidha Snan (bathing in ten sacred substances) on the banks of the Saryu river. The day concludes with a fervent worship of Lord Vishnu and the auspicious gift of cows (Godan).

On January 17th, a grand procession carrying the idol of Ramlala, adorned in celestial attire, will make its way through Ayodhya. Devotees, bearing Mangal Kalash pots filled with the sacred water of the Saryu, will accompany the procession in a testament to their faith and devotion.

The 18th January marks the official commencement of the consecration rituals. The day resonates with the chanting of hymns during the Ganesh Ambika Puja, Varun Puja, and Matrika Puja, seeking blessings from deities and cleansing the space. This spiritual preparation culminates in the Brahmins’ Varn ceremony and the Vastu Puja, ensuring harmony and prosperity for the temple.

January 19th witnesses the Agni Sthapana (establishment of the sacred fire), Navagraha Sthapana (installation of the nine planets), and a culminating Havan (fire ritual). The cleansing intensifies on the 20th with the Abhisheka of the sanctum sanctorum with Saryu water, followed by Vaastu Shanti (auspicious rituals for the temple) and Annadhivas (offering of food to deities).

The 21st January is dedicated to Shayadhivas, a purifying ritual involving a celestial bath for the deities using 125 urns of sacred water. Finally, on January 22nd, the day dawns with a serene morning worship, culminating in the much-awaited moment – the Pran Pratistha of the Ramlala idol in the auspicious Mrigashira Nakshatra.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, recognizing the significance of this occasion, has urged devotees to plan their visit to Ayodhya after the consecration ceremony. This is a carefully considered measure to ensure a smooth and sacred experience for all involved in the historic event.

As Ayodhya prepares to welcome its beloved Lord Ram back home, the city exudes an aura of devotion, anticipation, and immense joy. The meticulously planned schedule promises a week-long spiritual odyssey, culminating in a moment etched in history. Whether you witness it firsthand or follow it from afar, the consecration of the Ram Mandir will undoubtedly be a landmark event, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of millions.
